User Description: Reviews of some horror movies I've watched.VacancyA couple checking into a run-down motel find that they're being filmed and are going to end up being the next victims of a snuff movie. A claustrophobic, no gore, cat and mouse chase starts. A couple of scenes had me for the fringe of my seat. Pretty intense movie, though intense ending. Grade: 3 from 5CelloMediocre Asian ghost horror with regards to a music teacher with a past that comes to haunt her. The movie is beautiful, and extremely slow paced. More drama than horror. The ending had me scratching my head. โดจิน : 2 beyond 5Hostel: Part IIAmerican college girls studying in Europe are tricked into traversing to a hostel using a very dark secret. Expect hot girls, violence, plus some very disturbing, gruesome scenes. I liked this movie more than I thought I would, but it created a bad taste in my mouth. Grade: 3 beyond 5One Missed Call: FinalThe third movie within the Asian teen horror series that is certainly quite okay. The teens get phone messages from themselves inside the future - using a clue of how they will die. Their only probability of surviving is always to forward the message to somebody else. It's an entertaining movie should you not expect any logic, and are willing to suspend your belief quite a bit. Grade: 3 from 5WildernessDecent British survival horror. Teen criminals are shipped away and off to an island where they get got rid of, one by one, by an unseen killer. Some genuine suspense although the identity from the killer is revealed early. Get ready for nasty traps, a lot of gore, and crazy dogs. Grade: 3 out of 5The Haunted ApartmentsAsian ghost horror where a girl and her alcoholic father move into a cursed apartment building - where people die gruesome deaths. The story is a mess, there is however a surprise reveal nearby the end I didn't see coming. A couple of scenes are in fact scary, but there is annoying overacting by some of the minor characters that almost drove me crazy. Grade: 2 out of 5The Hills Have Eyes IIWes Craven and his son wrote this 2007 version where some soldiers over a rescue mission inside the New Mexico desert are attacked by mutant cannibals. I did much like the remake of the original "The Hills Have Eyes" - but this sequel is not really good. There's no real suspense, and now we don't care about the characters. But expect some violent action and fights in dark tunnels. Grade: 2 away from 5
